Matt and Kathryn planned their wedding from out of town with the help of their families who were local. Their ceremony was held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church where they were sent off with a sword arch and into a 1939 Packard, an American Rolls Royce, from Lake Forest Limousines with a “Just Married” sign on the back. It was so funny at the end of the sword arch the last Navy officer smacked the bride on the butt with his sword and said “Welcome to the Navy!”
After the ceremony we headed back to the Balboa Bay Resort to take a few photos before the Reception. As soon as we arrived a freak, July rain stared coming down. We took the rare moment as good luck and were able to snap a few rain photos. Not many southern Californian weddings get to have cute umbrella shots!
I’m so happy for you, Matt & Kathryn. So glad I was able to spend the whole day with you, from the getting ready early in the morning to late at night when you were surrounded in a group hug by your dear friends and all those moments in between. You had mentioned how important your wedding photos were to you and Im so glad we had that extra time to get some great shots. I wish you both all the best in your upcoming travels and marriage. Congratulations!!
Kathryn requested a “First Look” with her Dad before the ceremony. Very sweet to see how proud and happy her pappa was.
Matt serves in the Navy and wore his Full Dress Whites uniform for the ceremony and later changed in to his Service Dress Blues.
When it rains on your wedding day… Take cute umbrella shots!!
You would have never know it but one week before Matt and Kathryn were married, she landed wrong and broke her foot!! She was such a trooper – I was very impressed. Crutches came out towards the end of the night but other than that she rocked one gorgeous shoes and this boot the rest of the day.
After photos at Balboa Bay Resort we headed over to the Balboa Yacht Club for their reception. They had the room set up beautifully with bright purple accents and a few personal touches like this darling Navy cake topper.
Sheila Yates with Le Petite Jardin did a beautiful job with all the florals.
Cutting their cake with Matt’s Navy sword!!
