From the bride: “We met through mutual friends. Jake had just graduated from college and I was in my final quarter. Our paths started crossing in summer 2015 and there was one night we finally talked. It was a pint night where you bring a pint glass down to the pub and you can get a dollar beer. I was dropping off my friend and stopped in to say hi to people. Jake was there with his friends and they were all wearing Hawaiian shirts. I thought he just looked like a cute surfer guy so I went over to talk to all of them (who I knew the others). Then Jake and I got to talking and we started hanging out after that night we met and the rest is history!
At Lake Pillsbury. Jakes family friends own a campsite there. We are friends with their kids too and we go every year with them, their family, and friends from college. It was Doug and Jenn’s (who own the campsite) 30th wedding anniversary so there was a plan to “dress up” one of the nights for a nicer dinner. Dress up as in sun dresses and Hawaiian shirts. We all got ready and decided to go down to the dock for sunset pictures. When it was Jake and my turn, that is when he popped the question. I was so excited! We went up the hill and they had decorated around the campsite and had a bubble machine and champagne. We enjoyed celebrating with everyone that evening and had the rest of the week to enjoy the excitement with zero services. It was nice to not feel the need to tell the world right away. We also had more friends come up the following weekend and we got to celebrate with them as well.”
It was extra sweet to be able to be able to photograph their wedding day! I’ve known Christy since we were kids. We grew up at the same church together!
Christy + Jake, I am SO freaking happy for you guys! You have so much love and are surrounded by such good people. Keep adventuring and loving each other.
Christy had her Boudoir Photoshoot put onto a retro viewfinder! What an awesome gift for her husband! Inquire for more information on boudoir sessions »
The bride, Christy, is a graphic designer and designed her own invitation suite as well as table numbers for the reception.
Handmade digital art on each of the tables was created by the bride, Christy. They represent special places to Jake and Christy’s lives. Such a unique personal touch to add to wedding day.
